SD TRAINING FEATURED IN NOTEABLE MAGAZINE

1. Take positive steps only. Stepping to the side will never get you to the basket/destination. The only time you take negative steps is when you’re getting double teamed or pressured; so back up, create space, and make a sound decision.

2. Stay on the balls of your feet. So much of basketball/life is based on reaction and adaptability. Being ready for the unexpected is pointless if you aren’t ready to adjust and attack instinctively.

3. READ YOUR DEFENDER /PEOPLE . Observe their angle and see how they’re trying to PLAY you.

4. Keep Your Chin Above Your Shoulders And Play/Live With Vision. Similar to a hockey assist, you need to see a play developing before it happens, this foresight will keep you one step ahead of the opposition.

5. Avoid Jumping In The Air To Make A Decision. Don’t let the defence/people force you into a decision that you don’t want to make. Stay poised and make a GROUNDED decision.

6. IGNORE THE CROWD.
Understand This- Never let someone affect you who spends their life in the stands as a SPECTATOR instead of a PARTICIPANT. It’s easy to critique from a “hindsight 20/20” perspective, that doesn’t take much intellect or bravery.
APPRECIATE the ones around you that are digging and grinding everyday just like you. I always loved hitting a Big 3 to silence the crowd. Making big shots transcends basketball; That’s Life!

SD Group Training is a unique weekly practice that focuses on ski
ll development and also encourages togetherness and energy giving.  
Our program focuses on different aspects of the game each week.  Some of the skills covered include: SHOOTING, FOOTWORK, STRENGTH+CONDITIONING, READ+ REACT, AGILITY, ONE ON ONE MOVES , TRIPLE THREAT CONCEPTS, + MULTITASKING DRILLS.

March Break Shining Moments

Shout out to all the athletes who attended our March Break Camp! 

We had a crazy week filled with skill development combined with strength and conditioning.  

Each player was forced to dig deep within themselves as they spent the week outside of their comfort zone. We discussed goal setting, time management and sacrifice.

I’m proud of this group for grinding, digging and pushing the limits this week in order to get better!

1. Parking lot sprinting in -5 degree weather
2. Athletes vs SD Trainers Full Court
3. BURPEES, BURPEES, BURPEES! We completed a minimum of 100 Burpees everyday.
4. Coach Shane vs Ellen in the 3 pt competition for Pizza
5. The TOGETHERNESS in the camp.  The older athletes led by example and the younger group were tremendous energy givers!
It was a qualitative week!

One on One Training gives athletes individualized attention before, during and after their basketball season.
We key in on what each player needs to strengthen and build them up through a series of training sessions.  Your Skills will get sharper, your handle will get tighter, your moves will be quicker, your shot will be more consistent and your conditioning will elevate!

THE SD WEEKLY TRAINING CAMP

The SD WEEKLY TRAINING CAMP is designed for athletes of all ages.  It is a 2 hr weekly clinic that focuses on FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS and CONDITIONING.  The weely clinic is great for keeping your ‘edge’ throughout the basketball season.  Each session will include skills development, strength and conditioning, and scrimmages where players can apply what they have learned.
